Dragons & Japan

isn't this the last post we're doing? doesn't feel like it's been seven weeks already, but i'm pretty glad that it is. no, it's not because i don't like doing the blogs. i do like it, but my computer just like broke down on me and i think it has a virus. well, it told be i have 1328 viruses, but that seems pretty impossible. anyways, without my computer i can't draw and if i can't draw, i fail at doing this blog obviously. hopefully i can get it fixed soon and get back to doing what i love, but who knows what kind of damage that amount of viruses could do.
moving on. this is a picture of another character from my series that appears in the first book. he is a pygmy dragon named Kyon and is about that size of a large cat. he first appears about a day before Kira. Risa and Tori are going to set out on their very long journey across Japan to get to the Temple of Ember. he claims that he was sent to Kira's house to be their guide along the journey since none of them knew exactly where they were going. from then on, Kyon became a main character in the series and one of Risa's good friends.
the other day i saw a drawing from a little kids show and it was about a dragon which made me want to draw Kyon again since the last time i drew him was in 6th grade. i think the shading is the best that i have done so far. yes, i think it is definitely becoming a new sort of style for me.
just because i mentioned it earlier . . . Japan. i'm sure a lot of you know, but a lot of you also probably don't know that the word "Japan" isn't even Japanese. yes, it was a name that was given to their country. a long time ago, Japan was called "nippon" so if you ever see anything that says "made in Nippon" on it, you know it's old. today, the Japanese word for Japan is "nippon"
now that i've tortured you with history, i shall go eat dinner.

Smile Like You Mean It

aw, Tori looks just like any other normal teenage girl that obviously shops at holister and sits in windows to watch the sunset. :] yeah, he's an odd erson. if he were real, he' be one of the strangest people i know.
anyways, i just had to draw Tori smiling for once. this picture came to me in a very weird dream the other night and i was at some park and there was a treehouse and this old lady and . . . nevermind. i kind of failed at . . . most everything in this picture, but that's okay. i wish it would have turned out better, but it was the best i could do.
again with this certain kind of coloring. i think it might develope in to a style. who knows. i used to suck at it, but i've gotten a bit better at it. i just thought it fit what i was doing.
also, sorry for posting so many pictures of this haracter. i always have fun drawing him an he's my character in my book so there's another reason for you. yes, my character in my book is a guy. i didn't really mean for it to be this way as my character originally was Kira, but I realized I gave him more qualities that I have. In fact, he has more in common with me than any other character and there’s no rule that says my character has to be the same gender. All in all, I will try to get some other person up after my next post (since I know that one will also be of Kira and Tori)

Hold my Heart

well, this is actually something i had to do for school. In class we were reading the Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe and we were supposed to make a movie poster with . . . stuff in it. Anyway, this is what i did and i'm really proud of that heart there ^. it looks like glass. i've never done something like that before so i think it's pretty cool. by the by, its very rare that i like one of my drawings. I only like the heart in this one though. everything else could be fixed up.
sorr for the bit of blood that's there. i hope it's okay to post a picture with that. in the story, someone dies and my teacher said it was okay. Ms. Dickson, if you need for me to take it down, i will.

   happy bloody, late valentines day!

Taunting Death

"so, are we friends then?"
"of course we are."
"always?"
"and maybe even forever."

this is the cover for the first book of my series, Chasing Ember, called Taunting Death. from left to right the characters are, Tori Haruno, Risa, and Kira Asakura. they are three of the many main characters in the book. i chose them because they are the three in who's point of view the book is being told from.
some of you may know, but not a lot of you, that i have been interested in writing for a very long time now. i started writing the beginning of this book one night when i was away with my parents and i had already decided that i wanted to write a book sometime in my life. as l kept writing, the plot deepened and more and more characters appeared that i got attached to. i got pulled in to the writing and i couldn't seem to take my pencil off the paper. i have been working on this series for almost three years now. i would be done with the first book, but i decided that combining the first and the second book would make much more sense.
the first book explains the plot of the series. four people across the world were sent strange dreams by a person who had long since been dead in the world they lived in. depictions of spirits, demons and mysterious temple were passed to them through sleep. when wanting rest from these tiring dreams, a girl, Kira Asakura, finds that all of the strange happenings around her seem to be leading to this place called The Temple of Ember. she and her newly found friend, Tori Haruno both set out in search of this place they know absolutely nothing about, to try and find the meaning behind these visions. when they arrive, they could have never guessed what awaited them there. New faces, old places, a lot of training, and a dark tale that foretells the coming rise of darkness and the death of the one who can stop it.

Candy Cravings

ugh, another week has passed and i suddenly found it time to create another drawing. this one i didn't try on either, i find it worse than my last one. i had this great idea in my mind . . . and then this is what came out of it. oh well, I'll have many other chances to do greater things.
i decided to draw this because i was listening to a song about candy and i decided i wanted to draw something having to do with candy. I'm not exactly sure how this got to be . . . this, but here it is. i wish i would have drawn more candy to fill up more space. i think that would have made it better. hey, at least i did something.
in other news, i finally got my tablet back after it broke! for those of you who think I'm talking about a piece of paper, you're wrong! a tablet is a professional drawing tool that you hook in to your computer and you use a pen to draw on it and what you're drawing appears on the screen of your PC/mac. it's difficult to explain, but you can't just look down at the tablet and the picture will be on it. you have to look up at the screen to see what you're doing. it's like those new drawing thingies for the wii if you've seen those. on this, you can use your hand as well. it's not just for drawing either, you can use it instead of a mouse, type with it, use it to put signatures on documents or write quick notes in Journal, etc. etc. it's really awesome, but at the moment, all i can do with it is doodle because it's difficult to use. :p

Never Forget

as most of you already know, my whole blog is about my seven week journey though art. At least one drawing per every seven days and this is my first one that i just finished. I bet a lot of you are thinking, . . . you just copied that from some site, but no, i did it all on my own. How? I draw it first on a blank sheet of paper, uploaded the pencil sketch, and colored it on on a professional program called Easy Paint Tool SAI. If any of you like to draw, you should check it out. Just search the name on google and read about it. The actual program is pretty easy to use as long as you have a mouse and a computer! the process takes from hours to days, but it's better than anything you'll ever get on some MS Paint thing.
Anyway, this is one my characters from my books I'm writing. His name is Tori and before you question me, he's supposed to look like a girl, I'm tired of people saying there's no way he's a guy. it's not that i don't know how to draw guys, because i can. he just looks like that. this is a picture of him from when he was five (now currently 14) holding a flower in which you can only find in the place where he used to live before it was destroyed by a horrible fire. his memories of the place aren't many, but the ones he still has he tries to hold on to the best he can.
